SMTC 2017 and MTEC 2017, Singapore,  Apr. 26-28, 2017.

The Singapore Maritime Technology Conference (SMTC) is a biennial international maritime technology conference and exhibition organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).  The conference aims to profile and showcase Singapore’s international standing in maritime and port technology and R&D; demonstrate thought leadership on the latest developments, products, services and application in the maritime industry and create partnerships and collaborations amongst researchers, academics, engineers and professionals in the maritime and port industries.
The 5th International Maritime-Port Technology and Development Conference or MTEC 2017 will be held in conjunction with SMTC 2017.  MTEC is a technical conference series held alternately between Singapore and Norway biennially.  MTEC2017 is organised by MPA, Research Council of Norway, Singapore Maritime Institute and MARINTEK, partnering the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic.

3rd Blue Planet Symposium, Maryland, May 31 - Jun. 2, 2017 - abstract due Apr. 28.

The 3rd Blue Planet Symposium will be held on May 31-June 2 2017 in College Park Maryland. The Symposium serves as a forum for discussion of societal information needs resulting from the important role the oceans play in Earth's life-support system and the challenge of minimizing the impacts of human activities on the oceans while utilizing the resources of the oceans to meet our needs. The symposium will also be a platform for the participating communities to exchange information on their activities and identify potential pilot and prototype projects for Blue Planet to focus on in the coming years. The four themes for this year’s symposium are 1) The changing ocean; 2) Threats from pollution, warming and acidification; 3) Processes and life at the interfaces with the oceans; and 4) Sustainabile use of ocean resources.

Request for Nominations - Distinguished Technical Achievement Award 2017 - due May 1.

The IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society is hereby soliciting nominations for the society Distinguished Technical Achievement Award for significant accomplishments in oceanic engineering.  A nomination form can be downloaded from the OES website under Professional Activities-Honors and Honorees-Award Forms.  Nominations should be forwarded to the Awards Chair, René Garello at rené.garello@telecom.bretagne.eu. The deadline for nominations is 1 May 2017.

The IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society is hereby soliciting nominations for the society Distinguished Service Award to honor an individual IEEE member for outstanding contributions toward furthering the objectives of the Oceanic Engineering Society.  A nomination form can be downloaded from the OES website under Professional Activities-Honors and Honorees-Award Forms.  Nominations should be forwarded to the Awards Chair, René Garello at rené.garello@telecom.bretagne.eu. The deadline for nominations is 1 May 2017.

New 'button' on the Journal webage on IEEE Xplore.

There is a new feature with the April Issue of the Journal.  IEEE publications has enabled a 'button' on the Journal webpage on IEEE Xplore that will allow you to download the complete issue.  On the J-OE webpage on Xplore, go to the 'Get Entire Issue Now' button' to download the full April issue.
